Brew & Gumbo

We were lucky to be invited this weekend to our friends Kristen and Luke's Gumbo and Brew party.  The boys spent most of the day outside in the beautiful sunshine with the dogs while the girls were inside preparing the Gumbo and snacks to keep everyone satisfied.  The day started off with bloody mary's and yummy appitizers.  Cheese, crackers, bread with cream cheese and home canned pepper jelly.

The "Huge Gumbo" recipe was amazing!! There was a lot of chopping involved and there were some tears with the onions not going to lie.  The craw fish were straight from Louisiana (overnighted which is awesome!).  It is amazing how little meat you get from the little guys! I have decided that when you make gumbo you need to make it into a party, it makes a TON! Jeff was so excited to get to help Luke and the boys make a home brew.  As far as I am aware Jeff has never done this before (he amazes me all the time at things he has done....sky diving! WOW!) The puppies where having a blast playing in the backyard with each other and the leaves!

Thank you so much Scoggin's Family for inviting us over to your fun day! It was so nice to be around fun loving people and just be able to relax.  We feel so comfortable when you are at your house! Thank you so much for being a big part of our lives! We love you guys!!

I Now Pronounce You Husband & Wife

Call it old fashion.  Jeff and I put a wedding announcement in the local papers! I was so excited to be married to Jeff that I wanted to shout it from the hills.  Here is a link to the newspaper article.  I am so happy to be your wife Jeff.

Duvet Covers....So EXPENSIVE

Jeff and I purchased a king size down comforter with some of our wedding gift cards! I was so excited to get it , until I realized that all of my duvet covers are for queen comforters. Sad face! I have been shopping online and found an inexpensive duvet cover for $35, which I thought was a steal of a deal. It finally came in the mail today.  It is a simple charcoal gray solid color.  I LOVE it and I can't wait to get into my cozy bed tonight on this cold night.  I am thinking though that I need another one, for when I have to wash the gray one or when I need a little something different.  But wow they are spendy!! Like we are talking around $100!! (for the ones with patterns).  I am thinking about sewing one myself.  I haven't sewn anything since I have been with Jeff (which by the way is 2 years and 9 months today! Yahoo).  So this will be my first sewing project as a married lady! I am looking to make one using two flat sheets as I think that is a cheaper way to buy that large amount of fabric.  I will keep you posted on this project and once I find a pattern and a good price on the fabric I will post pictures.  Kind of a boring post, but I wanted to write and this is what was on my mind! Stay tuned!

Babe & Bulbs

Second post in 1 day! Pretty sure this won't be the norm.  I just have some time tonight and thought I would try to add pictures to a post.  Jeff and I planted a TON of bulbs today. I hit the jack pot of all bulb sales at Bi-Mart, Jeff & Madison love to get me bulbs for little presents and the neighbor lady gave us a grocery bag full of mystery bulbs.

The dirt looks so nice because Jeff dug a foot of clay off the flower bed (thanks to the memorable water leak of 2013 that ruined all my spring bulbs...) and then put a truck load of dirt on top yesterday, perfect for bulb planting! Here are some picks of the fun....

Let's Get Started

I have decided to start a blog.  I want a way to share with family and friends what we are up to.  We have a few things that we are doing and I thought this would be a great way to keep everyone up to date on the Juhl's.  We had a very busy weekend working around the house.  This is the first weekend we have had in a very long time that didn't revolve around "wedding" stuff.  Jeff and Madison worked really hard yesterday outside.  I went to a holiday bazaar hosted by a co-worker and got a few presents checked off the list.  Then Mom and I went to Cousin Presley's baby shower.  It was so fun to see that pregnant lady! When I got home Madison was hanging out with the "Jeffery Street Gang" riding bikes and of course finding bugs.  Jeff was chatting with the neighbor.  I had high hopes of planting a bunch of bulbs.  It was just toooo cold, so instead I came inside and made hot cocoa for the "Jeffery Street Gang".  It was a hit!  We had spaghetti for dinner and watched my new favorite show 18 and Counting, it is one real "show" I am okay with Madison watching.  Today Jeff and I worked on the garage.  I took a bunch of photos of wedding stuff (that is one of the projects I am up to.  Wedding Rental Business), organizing and putting everything in the attic.  Jeff was a trooper and was basically in the attic all morning organizing everything.  We are relaxing on the couch now before we head out to Grandma Hurkey's for pizza dinner.  It has also been wayyyyy to long since we have been out to the farm.  Everyone is very excited!
